| Set: A dollar sign border is used at the beginning of the show. The doors have been repainted (Door #1 is blue, Door #2 is pink, Door #3 is purple). The turtable was also repainted. It now has darker colors to reflect the nighttime. Contestant's Row looks exactly the same as it currently does on the daytime version. In the back of the audience, there is a large $1,000,000 sign. The bow and dollar sign on the giant price tag are silver. Finally, there are new showcase podiums. They are covered with gold and silver glitter, instead of the Mark Goodson asterisk is the Primetime Special logo and the display supports six digits. |

*Great show tonight. There was lots of great prizes, some fabulous wins and some very good contestants. I thought the possibility of winning $1,000,000 would be the focal point of the show, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that while it played a major part of the show, they made sure the other parts of the show were solid and exciting as well.
*Three Pricing Games were won today, including Punch-A-Bunch and One Away! *Golden Road: Disappointing to see this game lost in such a terrible way. The motor scooter was obviously not $1,955 (due to the repeating digit rule). Nevertheless, the game was still tricky. $1,695 looked much more plausible than $1,895 did for the motor scooter. *One Away: Pretty tricky. At least they were kind enough to make the fifth digit in the price of the car a 5. *Punch-A-Bunch: Wow! This game just won’t cool off this year. Great to see $25,000 to be won, a bit annoying to see Bob do such a small build-up before revealing the slip. *Squeeze Play: Even in primetime specials this game is a crapshoot! $8,313, $8,813 and $8,833 all looked wrong. *That's Too Much: Set up for a loss. I doubt many contestants would have went all the way up to such an expensive price ($39,991). Also, there were large gaps between the prices, so the gap trick wasn’t as useful as it usually is. *Grocery Game: Wow! It was won. Double wow! All five grocery products were relatively cheap! *The sets looks great, especially the darkened turntable. It goes well with the set; it doesn’t seem out of place and it doesn’t distract you as much as the daytime one does. *When Rod said the first Showcase was “overflowing with prizes”, he wasn’t kidding! *Why did Bob fully explain the rules of the Showcase Showdown before the second Showcase Showdown? I don’t mind when he does it in the daytime version, but tonight it seemed so awkward. *Kind of disappointing that all six Pricing Games played tonight has already been played in last summer’s primetime specials. Could it have hurt them to play Hole in One and Freeze Frame instead of That’s Too Much and Grocery Game? |
